Babble: Supporting Conversation in the Workplace
AbstractFor the last year our group has been developing and using a prototype system called Babble that supports text-based conversation (either synchronous or asynchronous) and provides awareness of the presence and activities of participants. After using the system for a year, we began deploying it to other groups to see how (and whether) it would be adopted. In this paper we briefly describe Babble’s design and the rationale behind it, and then discuss the results from the first six to eight weeks of deployment to five groups (as well as our own use) within IBM’s T. J. Watson Research Center.Link to Publication: http://dl.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=307754u0026CFID=147965570u0026CFTOKEN=71592371
