Autodesk Doubles Down on AI in Day Two of AU Keynotes
The theme of digital transformation and reinvention to help make a better future continued in the day two keynote at AU 2024, Autodesk’s annual design and make conference. Jeff Kinder, Executive Vice President, Product Development and Manufacturing Solutions, kicked off the address, digging deeper into what transformation looks like across each of the industries served by Autodesk and referring to it as “a journey not a one and done.”
“More than ever before, that journey is about how digital transformation can serve as a driver of business reinvention–finding new, often innovative, ways to create and deliver value,” Kinder said.
Kinder discussed the potential impact of Autodesk Research proof of concept, Project Bernini, to augment and accelerate creativity in manufacture and design. He explained how using a simple prompt, Bernini can rapidly generate functional 3D images and editable geometry in Fusion.
Diana Colella, Executive Vice President, Entertainment & Media Solutions, also spoke to the impact of Project Bernini in the M&E space, referencing a partnership with Electronic Arts to explore the potential of Generative AI in game development. Hoping this is the first of many such partnerships, Diana explained how Autodesk aims to work with creators to augment creativity with generative AI.
“No studio wants to overhaul their entire pipeline every time a new technology comes around,” said Diana. “Pipelines are the secret sauce. They’re how a studio works. We want to help you be prepared for future reinvention.”
Amy Bunszel, Executive Vice President, Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) Solutions, also discussed the excitement around the digital transformation happening in the AEC space, as well as some anxiety faced by professionals. She shared that while reinvention looks different in each of the industries Autodesk serves, it will change the way we all work.
“Better data is the foundation of everything – it drives innovation. It improves productivity. And ultimately, it helps make your business more profitable,” said Amy. “Connecting data across the lifecycle gets information where you want it, when you want it, empowering better decision making and unlocking opportunity.”
