Connect with our Research Connections: Neurocognition and Design
Learn how the human brain and human mind influence design
Our Research Connections series highlights design and make work in the industries Autodesk serves. In this installment, learn what neurocognition can tell us about designing from John Gero, Research Professor in Computer Science and Architecture at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Neurocognition combines cognitive science, what happens in the mind, with neuroscience, what happens in the brain, to better understand how the two are connected. In this talk, Professor Gero explores the differences in the design neurocognition of designers, how using design tools can change neurocognition, and how teaching design methods change students’ design cognition and neurocognition. Additionally, he discusses how the Function, Behavior, and Structure (FBS) ontology have a neurophysiological basis for design and designing. Watch the video to learn more.
