Biography

Andy Harris is a Senior Research Manager on the Industry Futures Team based in London. His areas of interest as a researcher are materials and sustainability across all industries, particularly AEC and D&M.

He has consulted a vast range of companies across the world including Honda, GE, Hyundai, GM, Covestro, Airbus, Hopflyt and Mercedes F1. He also led multi-million dollar research in Digital Reconfigurable Facilities for Additive Manufacturing (DRAMA), a factory in a box for the aerospace supply chain to provide certified additive manufactured components. Andy also led Project Monaco, which developed the world’s largest powder bed additively manufactured part that was also optimized for multi-physics (fluids, structural and thermal). Andy has pioneered research that led to 8 patents in the area of design and optimization.

He has a Doctorate in Materials Science and a master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering. He brings a wealth of experience developed during his time at Autodesk and in prior roles in other companies.

Outside of work Andy has a passion for motorsports, where he will often arrange trips to the 24 hours of Le Mans. He also is a keen learner of Korean and hopes to be fully fluent one day. He also enjoys hiking and when in Korea he hikes many of the mountains there with his wife. He is looking forward to introducing his daughter to these passions when she is older.
