Situated Information Spaces and Spatially Aware Palmtop Computers.
Abstract
No longer will we need to be tethered to a stationary computer workstation to browse electronic databases or synthetic 3D information spaces transformed onto a 2D display surface. Instead, we will browse, interact, and manipulate electronic information within the context and situation in which the information originated and where it holds strong meaning. A small, portable, high-fidelity display and spatially aware palmtop computer can act as a window onto the 3D-situated information space – providing a bridge between the computer-synthesized data and physical objects.
